Music to Our Ears
This weekend, the cosmos are singing our tune – literally and figuratively. Hear the real-live sounds of dreamy Toro y Moi on Thursday, and dance to the beat of a different electro-drum with Parisian-duo Acid Washed during Fridays at The Vagabond. Then on Saturday, did someone say – “sample sale?” Those two little words may as well be music to our ears.

What: Living Room Sessions: Toro y Moi Where: Bardot
When: 9:00 p.m.
Bardot brought acclaimed chill-waver/multi-instrumentalist Toro y Moi (aka Chazwick Bundick) to Miami for last year’s Basel madness, so they figured it would only be appropriate to invite him back again this year. The timing couldn’t be better, considering he just dropped his new EP “Freaking Out.” Check em out Thursday night at midtown-spot Bardot for an intimate set.
Keep it cool in all-black ensemble, starting with this dreamy, dark Anna Sui Patterned Silk-chiffon Top. Balance out the romance with sleek black leather Portobello Shorts by Rag & Bone and sheer black Seam Back Tights from Topshop. Add some glamour with ethereal Alexis Bittar Tourmaline Triple Drop Earrings and sparkly Report Jodie Oxfords.

What: ACID WASHED
Where: The Vagabond
When: 10:00 p.m.
Paris-transplants Acid Washed take over Fridays at The Vagabond this week with their decidedly-European electro sounds. A little bit Kraftwerk, a little bit discotheque, this duo thrives on the dance floor. As usual, you’ve got Vagabond’s resident DJs, outdoor eats, and special drink specials all night long.
The Vagabond is a kind of come-as-you-are sort of place, but come as you’d like to be in this cool midnight blue Raquel Allegra Shredded Twill and Jersey Tunic and Acne Zippered Leggings (twin industrial zippers run up the backs of your calves.) Double up on necklaces for an eclectic vibe; we like the ModCloth Piedmont Avenue Necklace intertwined with a Tiger Lily Shark Tooth Necklace. Jet-black accessories keep it low-key; a tasseled Tylie Malibu Jetset Pouch and chunky stack-heeled Open Toe Booties by Loeffler Randall.

What: Gilt Groupe Warehouse Sale
Where: Miami Event Space
When: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Readers get ready for the wildest shopping event (and we do mean, event) of the year – the Gilt Groupe Warehouse Sample Sale comes to town this Saturday for a day of deep discounts on designer goods. If you’re not familiar with the concept of a sample sale, the gist of it is this: Gilt sets up shop in the warehouse with the finest clothes, shoes, and accessories from top designers, slashes the price tags, and lets the fashion-savvy Miami set have at it for one glorious day of shopping, savings, and cocktails! MFb will be live-blogging the event, so look for us there. Get your tickets at http://www.giltcity.com/miami/warehousesalemiami
For serious sample-sale shopping, comfort is key; you don’t have to sacrifice style to get it, however. Top the slim Topshop Jersey Pencil Skirt with a slouchy Cooperative Designs Wide Boyfriend Knit sweater for comfy color-block contrast. Flats are a must – these Luiza Barcelos Lace-up Flats are a stylish answer to the sneaker. And because Gilt doesn’t allow large bags into the sale, bring just the essentials (keys, phone, credit card) in one of the new sculptural mini-bags, like the neon Marc by Marc Jacobs “Hip To Be Square” Textured-leather Wristlet; adorn the other wrist with a delicately beaded Nakamol Cuff.
