Beached
MFb central is located smack in the middle of Wynwood, so we’re pretty tuned in to what’s happening on this side of the causeway – Cafeina, Panther Coffee, and the Electric Pickle are a few of our favorite neighborhood spots. But you’ve gotta shake up your routine sometimes, and this weekend, it's all happening on the beach. With a decadent, locally-grown dinner to the mother of all-nighters, those who say the beach is dead will have to look again.
Thursday: Localvores Rule

Where: 1500° @ Eden Roc
When: 7:00 p.m.
We’re living in a time when our increased awareness of where our food comes from can give us the creeps – “Florida” oranges shipped from California, veggies grown clear across the country, pre-packaged products that come off an assembly line. It seems especially strange given that we’re living in the rich agricultural environment of lush and lovely South Florida. This Thursday, celebrate the goodness of local bounty at a Local Farmer’s Dinner, celebrating an early harvest. Chef Paula DaSilva uses only locally-sourced, organic foods in her five-course dinner, which features fare such as crispy pork-belly tacos, whole grilled snapper, homemade ice cream and plenty of locally-grown veggies. The cost is $85 per person, and you can make your reservations by calling (305) 674-5594.
Make your look as fresh and colorful as the meal itself – an orange Carolina Herrera Floral Tafetta Skirt pairs beautifully with a fluid silk blouse, like the Snow Pleated V-Neck Top from Vince. Style this retro skirt in a modern way with an organic Bamboo Cube Clutch from Raw Bags and pearls-with-a-twist Periwinkle and Gray Ribbon Necklace by Catherine Canino. A Kenneth Jay Lane Swarovski Crystal Cocktail Ring and metallic Repetto BB Leather Ballerina Flats lend a bit of glamour.
Friday: Beat Generation

Where: The Bass Museum of Art
When: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The wildly-popular Beats After Sunset series at the Bass hosts a special edition of its monthly cocktail party this Friday in honor of the opening of their latest show. Parisian artist Laurent Grasso’s latest work “Portrait Of A Young Man” combines Baroque and Renaissance art from the museum’s permanent collection with the artist’s own original paintings, video, and sculptures. As always, there will be music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres (this month catered by A la Folie Café) on the terrace, overlooking the museum’s beautiful lawn. Free for members, and $8 for admission otherwise.
It doesn’t take a lot to pull together a simple and sophisticated outfit in a pinch – start with a basic black dress in a great shape, like the flawless Benedicta Dress from All Saints – style your hair in a topknot if you can, to show off the cool cowl neckline. Add signature shoes – Jeffrey Campbell Velez Sandals – and a bold gold Olga Prieto Triple Cuff, and finish up with striking Vince Camuto Geometric Hoop Earrings and a distinctive clutch, like the loopy Lizzie from Hobo International.
Saturday: Sleepless in Miami
What: Sleepless Night
Where: Miami Beach
When: 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
© Marni, Topshop, Lucky Brand, ModCloth, Baublebar, IllestevaInspired by the all-night happenings of Paris’ “Nuit Blance” and Montreal’s famous All-Nighter, Sleepless Night is the cultural takeover of Miami Beach that happens but once a year, from dusk til dawn. This year the schedule boasts over 150 events and performances, all of which are FREE – including the shuttle bus service that will take you to-and-fro. Highlights include three free concerts at the brand new New World Symphony, trapeze performances by The Dream Engine including an enormous helium-filled ball; live jazz and marching bands, street performers, gallery receptions, and stage productions. Check it all out and plan your itinerary at www.sleeplessnight.org
What does one wear to run around the beach all night? Do you sacrifice style for practicality, or vice versa? Get the best of both worlds with a cool, unexpected sweater-and-hot-pants combo; a cerulean, oversized Marni Cotton and Cashmere Sweater tops off an awesome pair of Topshop Metallic Hot Pants. Discotheque Diva Wedges from ModCloth strike a balance of good looks and good design, so your feet will look great and feel great too. An all-nighter implies that you may need certain supplies to keep you going (snacks, Red Bull, a back-up pair of sandals) so stash your stuff in a fab Lucky Brand Laguna Canyon Leather Backpack. Mermaid Bangles from the Baublebar are a pretty, fuss-free accessory and don’t forget your shades – Illesteva Leonard 2 Sunglasses hide your tired eyes on daybreak’s journey home.
