How to describe the music of Manu Chao…hmm, that’s a tough one. A French singer of Basque origin, this mastermind sings in French, Spanish, English, Italian, Galician, Arabic, and Portuguese – often all in the same song! Musically, he also spans the spectrum – think punk rock, pretty French chanson, salsa, ska, and reggae, so there’s literally something for everyone. Catch this enigma with his band Radio Bemba live downtown this Friday. Get your tickets via Ticketmaster, Sweat Records, or BASE on Lincoln Road.

We love a good midnight movie, especially when it’s happening at our favorite local theater, O Cinema and hosted by Miami’s own Wasabi Fashion Kult. Ball of Love is a quarter-hour film shot entirely on an iPhone that tells the story of a unemployed, down-on-her-luck girl and her search for a sense of self. With a soundtrack by the film’s creators – People From Venus – and an accompanying myriad of interactive exhibits, this movie is a full-on multimedia affair.
