Low Key, Local Chilling
Is there anything more depressing than the weekend after a holiday weekend? All we’re left with is the already-fading memories of last weekend’s endless parties, fireworks, and BBQ – and this weekend sure seems a whole lot shorter when it doesn’t include Monday, too. Beat your post-4th blues this weekend with some low-key, local chilling.

What: Ladies Night
Where: Town Kitchen & Bar
When: All day!
Okay, Ladies Night sounds cheesy (and it is) but in all honesty, what thrifty fashionista can resist drinks on the house? Plus, Ladies Night at swanky Town Kitchen & Bar is anything but desperate. Drinks are half-price for the girls all day long, but if you get there before 7 p.m., you'll also get free champagne.
Happy hour is the ideal excuse for busting out a colorful cocktail frock before the week is out – we’re loving the kaleidoscopic/tribal print of the Alameda Dress from Alice + Olivia. Team it with twisty, organically shaped Figure Eight Venus Earrings by Calico Juno and a cool Ralph Lauren Collection Fringe Suede Clutch, then add some statement jewels in the form of a dramatic Manu Stone Cocktail Ring and Sally Handcrafted Jeweled Wedges from Banana Republic.
Friday: Jazz Hands!
Guti may be a classically-trained jazz virtuoso and musical sensation in his native Argentina, but he’s a stranger to most of his over here in Miami. In hopes of bridging the gap between what’s hot there and what’s going on over here, Guti’s lastest explorations are in the world of electronic music. This Friday, his trance-inducing jazz-house-techno-fusion sound takes over the upstairs at Electric Pickle.
Be fresh and un-fussy in a skimpy black Silk Camisole from T by Alexander Wang and a fitted pair of Current/Elliot High Waisted Cut-off Shorts. Class it up with an eye-popping Coral Crop Shoulder Detail Jacket from Topshop and sophisticated (and comfortable!) Steve Madden Wauwi Wedges in black leather. Accessorize simply, but make a statement with the creepy-cool Turquoise Teeth Necklace from Need Supply Co and a futuristic Ariel Gordon Spring Ring.
Saturday: Off the Beaten Path
Hit up the Awarehouse for a multi-sensory experience – Wasabi Fashion Kult presents “The Chromatic Project” a short film about Miami’s burgeoning underground electronic music scene, and an accompanying array of musicians, writers, and artists. We’re not exactly sure what’s going to really be going down at this party, but it promises live music from Crystal Cadillac, Lion King Electro, organicArma, Sounduo, and Transoverload, fashion galore by Art of Shade, RevampRelove, and LiTTLE RAMONAS, and Grolsch beer happy hour from 10-11 p.m. Definitely worth a post-art walk trip.
Odds are good its going to be a steamy night walking around in Wynwood, so keep your outfit easy and breezy with just a couple of pieces. Layer the swishy, sensual polka-dotted Anna Sui Silk-blend Chiffon Kaftan over a body-con T by Alexander Wang Stretch Cami Dress, then step into cut-out Elie Tahari Meredith Wedges. Adorn your wrists with a few fancy Black Tie Affair Bangles from Forever 21, and you’re good to go in no time.
