Local Love! A KRELwear Skirt
This past weekend Karelle Levy, one of the most talented fashion artists we have in Miami, hosted a sample sale at her KRELwear studio in Wynwood. The desire of adding a piece of KRELwear to my wardrobe, combined with the thirst of a good designer sample sale, and wanting to share the sample sale experience with my daughter, were all too much to pass up.
As all good sample sales, this one was accompanied by the thrill of sifting through the racks and finding that something you don’t really need, all the while confirming the rule that whenever you search for the right piece to match a specific something, you never find it. While Karelle was greeting everybody with her solar smile and inviting everyone to search every drawer, box and basket, my daughter and I went through each piece with the pact that we were going to try on all our picks, experimenting with shapes and colors, while absolutely staying within our budget. While we did try on a lot of fun and funky pieces, we didn't stay within our budget. We went over budget but left the studio with four magnificent pieces.
The skirt featured belongs in that “I-know-I-don’t-need-it-but-I can't-let-it-go” category. When I went home, I wanted to style it immediately given that summer's here and a comfy-chic skirt like this is a perfect way to beat the heat.
Morning Errands

Playing off the blues in the skirt with a heather grey tank and layers of f.b.c.reations necklaces. Finishing with a pair of handmade criss cross sandals bought in Capri some 15 years ago – perfect for a morning running around town.
Cocktail Hour

An oversized top over a contrasting bra in fluo yellow, alligator hot pink sandals by Sergio Rossi and a mini satin navy blue evening messenger bag from Prada makes for an eclectic emsemble – but I think I can pull it off!
Evening Out

Dressing up the skirt for a night out with a chiffon embroidered tank top by Oscar de la Renta, a white tuxedo jacket, and black suede sandal pumps by Valentino.
