Adolfo for Saks Three Piece Set
Last Sunday was the next last antique market on Lincoln Road for the season. My friend and I went with a mission: finding a fabulous airy chiffon caftan for his mother’s summer vacation. We were looking for something breathtaking, but most importantly, something unusual for his chic, sophisticated mother, who matches every outfit with the most exquisite jewelry.
We were not even through the first block when he eyed a fetching Russian sable collar over a longuette floral print on crepe de Chine. It was not exactly what we were looking for, but that's the thrill of a flea market – finding something fabulous that you didn't even know you needed. It’s a three piece set made under the famous Adolfo for Sacks 5th Avenue line, and it's in perfect condition. The colors are decidedly autumnal, but when you find something like this, the best thing to do is buy it and hang on to it 'til the season's right. So we snapped it up, took it home, and styled it three ways.
The Coat

The chicness of the coat calls for an event such as the opening of opera season. Make the coat pop by pairing it with contrasting colors. Here, I've paired it with a velveteen black and purple embroidered satchel, and black suede Valentino sandals.

Go casual by pairing with wide maxi pleated khaki pants, Jeffrey Campbell clogs and an oversized Sisley weekender – perfect for a day at work.
The Skirt

The skirt is one of those pieces to turn to again and again, because it can be worn in so many ways. Here, it's ready for Fall with a sheer hunter green chiffon shirt by D&G, a distressed leather bomber jacket by Zara Woman, and platform open toe sandals in navy blue, red and purple suede by Jen & Kim. To pick up the cream in the skirt, and tie the ensemble together, I added a knit cap and a long thin scarf from The Gap.
