A Suede and Cotton Button-Down
Cecilia LJ is your average Miami Beach 5th grader. She's 11 going on 15, reads Teen Vogue and adores Robert Pattinson. I met her in the car pool pick up lane at my daugher's school. Because it's "so cool to blog," the kids all take an interest in what I do. Which is how I came to restyle Ceclila's suede/cotton top – a top she "inherited" from her mother (read: took it out of her mother's closet one day and never put it back). So it goes, so it goes.
The button-down top has 3/4 sleeves, is a dijon-colored suede in the front and on the colar, and a lighter knit cotton everywhere else. One special detail: flat mother of pearl buttons. We restyled the top right out of Cecilia's closet.

Nude looks great with pink, so we paired the top with an antique pink t-shirt (a limited-edition design by Moises de la Renta), a full tutu skirt in extra pale pink by American Appare,l and a pair of glittery cheetah-print shoes by Forever 21. We finished the outfit off with another nude offering – a jute FEED bag from Whole Foods Market.
Shopping for Birthday Party Goodies

Cecilia's birthday is coming up, and she says she wants to wear this partuclar outfit while shopping for goodies for her party. The look consists of “Suedette” gathered shorts by Zara Girls, a graphic t-shirt by Stella Mc Cartney, and taupe boots by Mossimo for Target.

Who says you have to dress up for the ballet? Cecilia wants to dress as herself in a Stella McCartney for GAP Kids graphic t-shirt, light denim pants with belt by Forever 21, and limited-edition high-top Vans. Cecilia says it would be expected of a girl to dress girlie for a ballet performance, but she feels what she wears will not affect her enjoyment of her performance. You gotta love a kid with her own mind.
