If you are anywhere near downtown Miami this weekend, you are sure to witness the bass-thumping sounds of the ULTRA Music Festival. Love it or hate it, it's still our biggest music event of the year and it draws enormous crowds from all over the world. Even if you didn't manage to snag tickets to the sold out event, you can still revel in the electric energy that is ULTRA Fest. This weekend, you can even do it with a healthy side helping of fashion.

Friday: Bring the Funk

Lucky for you Funkshion picks up where MBIFW left off, drawing a younger, hipper crowd and plunking them down right on the beach. So if there's one thing you do this weekend that's not Ultra-related, make Funkshion-related.

On Friday, check out the FASHION LOVES HAITI showcase, featuring collections from Haitian designers Michel Chataigne, Les Pericles, Bien Abye by Dayanne Danier, RAX Collection, and MeJeanne Coutur. Live music by Zenglen, MaWoN, and TPO. A sort of “part deux” of last year’s Haiti Earthquake Relief Show for Haiti, indulge your fashion fix while supporting a good cause.

Dress simply – but luxuriously, of course. The Brigette Mini Dress from Elizabeth and James has a minimalist vibe, but with swingin' sixties bell-style sleeves and feminine color. Play up the pretty with pearls; the Adia Kibur Pearl Braided Chain Necklace is an updated take on your grandma’s flapper strands. And now just because you look so beautiful, so sweet and serene – add some rock and roll inspired accessories. Bardot’s Miami Music Week is an alternative to the raving antics of the Ultra crowd, featuring serveral of the same artists playing the Big U. This Saturday, check out Bag Raiders, Classix, and DCUP in the luscious lounge space that is Bardot. Feels good to have a real cocktail in a real bar, doesn’t it?

It’s easy to head out for the night dressed to kill in a short skirt and a tube top, but it takes real confidence to pull off a low-key look for nighttime. Go for an upgraded, updated version of a white tee and jeans in Citizen’s of Humanity Thompson Skinny Jeans and an Urban Outiffers Ecote Voile Striped Tee (more than basic white, this tee has alternating panels of cotton and sheer chiffon.) BAR is an easy-going laid-back spot, and we like it even more when there’s sangria, BBQ, and “special mystery guests” involved – for free!

So whether you’re just getting out of bed, or breezing through your apartment for a much-needed change of clothes post-Ultra, you want a look that's fun, not fussy.
