The Perfect Vintage Black Dress
Marta R. has always been the tallest of her five brothers and sisters. When she was growing up, people would stop her in the street and ask her if she was interested in modeling. She wasn't. Instead, she got a degree Literature and Media, and a job conducting music therapy on kids with Down Syndrome. She’s always been the “bucolic” and romantic of her family, and this viscose vintage black dress has romance for miles.
She bought it for 20 Euros at a flea market in Tuscany, and she dearly loves it because it reminds her of her grandmothers. She gave it to me to style it for her new life with her 5-year-old daughter and newborn baby boy in Southern Tuscany. Who says a mom can't look fabulous every day?

Color block woven ballerina flats from Kate Spade, a red document holder from Hugo Boss and a matching double buckle belt, add color and flair to the vintage dress. Wear it even if you are just shuffling between piano lessons and the market.

Marta and her husband regularly take trips into the most cultural and historical city in the world. Their trips usually include visiting Palazzo Pitti and its giardini with the kids, and they always throw in a smattering of cultural events for good measure. It's still cold, so dress for the weather - thick stay-up stockings from Marni, a pair of black platform sandals from Prada, and a double breasted wool sailor jacket from J. Crew, and a wide brim felt hat from H&M will make it look like you just blew in from Milan.

How great is this distressed leather hunter green jacket? It would look good with almost anything, including Marta's vintage black dress. Pair with Steve Madden booties and a nylon messenger bag from Fendi that can double as a diaper bag.
