Dress for Success

With the unemployment rate at 12% in Florida, we figured that some of you are looking for work. If you are, this post is for you. Because brushing up on your interviewing skills is hard enough - you shouldn't have to worry about what you're wearing too. So keep it simple with threads that show you're smart and neat and in control.

Kay Unger, Diane von Furstenberg, Milly© Kay Unger, Diane von Furstenberg, MillyFirst, we bring you the Asymmetrical Crepe Dress by Kay Unger. We love how this dress contours to your body, allowing a feminine fit in a subdued color. The neckline offers a fashionable twist with its asymmetrical neckline and looks fluid through the pleated skirt. A great pointer for dresses on an interview is to make sure the bottom seam lands two inches above your knee. If you still feel this is too much skin, go ahead and pair this piece with opaque tights and sling back pumps.

Our next piece is by none other than Diane Von Furstenberg. While you're most likely expecting one of her classic wrap dresses, those are more for after you've landed the job. When it comes to interviewing, pick a style like the Reggina Pop Dress. This navy shirtdress gives the look of a shirt-skirt combo, except it's in one simple slip. We love the fold over collar with its buttons down the bodice, but we love the shape this gives you with the self-belt tie at the waist. We would love to see this dress with a nude peep-toe pump and some of your go-to jewels. It's great to accessorize, but keep it to a minimum.

Our last pick is for those of you who love a splash of color. Color is a great way to be remembered, but just make sure it's not too loud - or you may be remembered for the wrong reasons. The Sailor Knot Sheath Dress in cerulean blue is perfectly professional and would beautifully with a pair of nude pumps. This sleeveless piece features a wide cut neck and two-tone chain belt. We love a dress that provides its own accessories, and the way the belt is interwoven is the perfect professional accent. Pair this with a black cotton cardigan or fitted blazer if you're interviewing at a more conservative office.
