Homegrown Eco Savvy
For whatever the reason, big-name houses have been slow to embrace green fashion. This leaves room for scrappy upstarts to take the lead and come straight up from the underground. Miami's own eco-fabulous handbag purveyor, ecoist, is as scrappy an upstart as you get. Beginning with a single idea, Jonathan Marcoschamer and his brother Yair created a line of handbags so delicious you want to eat them. That the bags are handmade in Peru out of post-industrial waste is just icing on the very shiny cake.
We recently visited Marcoschamer at ecoist's Wynwood studio to get the nitty-gritty on how these craveable bags came to be.
