We want to make sure you kiss off the year in style, so take a look at our go-to guide for the last night of 2010. Pucker up!
What: Nicki Minaj’s "All Pink Everything" Party
Where: Mansion; 1235 Washington Ave, Miami Beach
When: 9:00 p.m.
Cost: Tickets are $200 and include open bar until midnight
© BCBGMaxazria, Nanette Lepore, ABS by Allen Schwartz, Kenneth Jay Lane, TopShopEven if you’ve spent the year under a rock, or in a mayonnaise jar, or on a remote desert island, you still know all about Nicki Minaj. And chances are good that you also love her, regardless of if you’re really into hip-hop or not. Her flamboyant style, in-your-face attitude, and ample assets have made her into a superstar, and she’s bringing all her goodies to Miami on New Year’s Eve. Expect all pink everything – literally - Harajuku dancers, a laser light show, and a midnight countdown, Minaj style.
Stick with the theme and head out in a shocking pink, body-conscious BCBGMaxazria Criss-cross Layered Panel Cocktail Dress. A bright dress (and your legs) look fab with sleek nude Rigly Patent 2 Part Sandals from TopShop. Pay homage to the Barbie-girl herself by piling on the glitz with a chunky ABS by Allen Schwartz Rhinestone & Pearl Necklace, dazzling Kenneth Jay Lane Disco Ball Ring, and shimmery silver Nanette Lepore Evening Mesh Handbag.
What: New Year’s Eve with Drake
Where: W South Beach; 2201 Collins Ave, Miami Beach
When: 9:00 p.m.
Cost: $350 and up, including open bar until midnight
© Target, Alice + Olivia, Forever 21, TopShop, Miu Miu, Steve MaddenSpeaking of hip-hop hotties, Drake is another 2010 sensation. With plans to host his own bash at the W Hotel, he sure has come a long way since Degrassi. This is sure to be one of those nights that you will desperately want to remember forever, but probably won’t. Expect a midnight poolside performance by the man of the hour, and a wild after party-party indoors.
Party hard in style in an edgy sequined shift, like the Alice + Olivia Casey Dress, featuring a short, sexy hemline and assorted silver and black sequins bedazzling the entire frock. With your dress so sparkly, go basic with accessories and don simple Cubic Zirconia Studs from Target and an armful of black bangles; the TopShop Facet Stone Bangle Set and Sophisticate Bracelets from Forever 21 are our picks. When it comes to shoes, go for the unexpected in purple suede Viciious Booties from Steve Madden, complete with peep-toe and exposed side zipper. A Miu Miu Black Patent Leather Clutch is luxe-looking, but simple enough that it doesn’t compete with the dress.
What: NYE Dinner
Where: Joey’s; 2506 NW 2nd Ave
When: 6:00 p.m.
Cost: Prix-fixe dinners $55 - $80; regular menu also available
© Notte by Marchesa, ASOS, Steve Madden, Courtney Lee CollectionIf a South Beach shindig is not really your scene and you’re craving something more low-key for New Year’s Eve, check out our favorite neighborhood restaurant, Joey’s. Located in Wynwood (and immensely popular during second-Saturday art walk,) it’s a genuine place with an exquisite menu and charming atmosphere.
Go classic and demure in a Notte by Marchesa Lace Sheath Dress, paired with appropriately-named Partyy Pumps in black satin from Steve Madden. Add an element of unique drama to the look with ASOS Peacock Feather Earrings and a big emerald rock via the Courtney Lee Collection Susan Ring – the green jewel picks up on the peacock hues marvelously, and looks great against a glass of fine champagne. Cheers!
