Cut It Out
There’s something we’ve been noticing lately. It’s not zippers, lace-ups, or buckles, but a fresh take on complimentary detail. The cut-out has been popping up everywhere from dresses, blouses, even shoes and accessories. A huge hit thus far is the cut-out shoulders, along with a perforated type cut-out on accessories. While we would love to pick a favorite out of the two, we simply can’t. What we can do is bring you pieces that fashion followers have already snatched for the upcoming season.
© MINKPINK, See by Chloe, L.A.M.B.First, we bring you a casual option that follows the maxi trend. The Crossroads Dress by MINKPINK is an affordable basic that will quickly become a wardrobe staple. Available in black and grey, this maxi features a scoop neck top with cut-outs at the cap sleeve shoulders. We love this cotton piece because it can be easily layered for the colder months, and worn alone for the warmer. It’s a basic that’s not too plain. Let’s just say we’re a fan of the details.
While we love our casual pieces, there’s nothing like a dress with a hint of shine. The Mesh Shoulder Dress by See by Chloe is another example of the shoulder cut-out trend. Pinks and peaches are going to be huge in 2011, so with the color palette and cut, this jersey dress is a must-have. While the bodice of the dress is a faint peach, the crew neck and raglan sleeves are made out of a silver mesh. We love he way this looks with some booties or flats.
Our last pick is from the footwear world. The Lively Pumps by L.A.M.B. are a classic, yet modern heel that adds interest to any ensemble. Now, we’re assuming by its name that these pumps are named after Gossip Girl herself, Blake Lively, and if that’s the case, know you’ll be strutting these as the leader of the pack. These platforms are available in black or taupe, and we absolutely adore the laser-cut detail. Slip into these heels with any of your favorite cocktail dresses.
What’s your take in this holey trend? Are you a fan of this flattering feature?
