Shopping Art Walk
The Wynwood Art District Gallery Walk, hosted in the Wynwood Art District every second Saturday of the month, is not just about visiting the amazing galleries and socializing with Miami’s hipsters. It is also about shopping.
First on your to-do shopping list for the Art Walk is a visit to the Wynwood Market. With 35,000 square feet of local vendors, artists and performers, this open-air market is a refreshing addition to the vibrant arts scene in the Wynwood Art District. The space boasts a DJ and the innovative Gastropod mobile vehicle serving gourmet cuisine while you mingle and check out the assortment of local vendors.
Organized by Miami newcomer Natalia BN, the idea of the market was to bring together local artists, fashion and accessory designers, vintage outlets, craftsman, musicians and culinary artists, to create a vibrant and interesting bazaar. The most important criteria for selecting vendors is their creativity for handmade products and presentation. The market co-operates with emerging designers and artists to help them to expose their products on a vibrant and trendy market.
"I was living in London and used to go to weekend markets a lot, I loved the atmosphere of those markets so I decided to organize a similar one in Miami," Natalia explains.
Once you’ve scooped up tons of goodies at the market, head over to Haus Fashion, and check out which emerging new designers they have on display. Haus Fashion is the brainchild of renowned make-up artist and hair designer Emilio Uribe, who wanted to create a one-stop-shop for up and coming designers to showcase their work to customers, stylists, editors and the media.
In the entrepreneurial spirit of helping emerging artists gain notoriety, Uribe selects only the most interesting and promising new designers to showcase. You’ll want to be sure to stop in and check out whose work is on display – there’s a good chance they’ll be the next big thing in the Miami fashion scene.
Environmentally conscious fashionistas will not want to miss checking out the Ecoist and browse their collection of eco-friendly handbags made from recycled candy wrappers, food packages, soda labels, maps, newspapers and other waste materials. Displayed in an über-chic all white space, these eye-catching handbags are chic, one of a kind, and most importantly, environmentally friendly. They also make the perfect holiday gift for that special woman in your life that loves the planet as much as she loves her Louboutins.
We all know that fashion doesn’t just end with clothes and accessories – it’s important to keep your home looking fashionable, too. And what better way to do that than by adding some actual life to your décor? Plant the Future offers amazing floral arrangements that are anything but your typical bouquet. You’ll find displays of beautiful bonsai trees, cactuses and orchids wrapped with moss and accented with stones and white sand, to driftwood adorned with mini cactus and ferns. The pieces are unique and are sure to be a conversation piece at your next dinner party.
