Slow Down for Stella
Next time you’re driving down Biscayne Boulevard, make sure you pull over to check out Stella, a boutique that offers stylish women’s clothing and accessories all for under $100.
© Katherine McPherson / MFbThree years ago, owner Danielle Fraser relocated from New York to Miami to open Stella. “ I chose Miami because I wanted to open my own business in an up-and-coming area where I could grow with the neighborhood, and Miami really nurtures those types of businesses.” Says Fraser. “This is such a great area, it’s really developing and becoming more of a destination for people.”
Indeed, Biscayne is on its way to rivaling many of the established neighborhoods. More and more restaurants, bars, boutiques and salons are opening their doors. Next to Stella are several bars and eateries that you can pop into for a drink and an appetizer before, or after, you shop.
Stella is stocked with cute clothes; from maxi dresses, rompers and party dresses to lace leggings and sequined tops, you’re guaranteed to find an outfit for any occasion.
“Some of our most popular lines here are Motel, a great label from London that makes tight fitting dresses in amazing prints, Indah which also has incredible patters in organic, lush materials. They make clothes that are very Miami/LA/Hawaii appropriate. Greylin is also a best seller, they make great fitting dresses with cool colors and embellishments,” Fraser says.
You’ll also find awesome jackets from BB Dakota and cute clutches and bags from Urban Expressions. “BB Dakota is always on top of the latest trends,” Fraser says, “they are good about identifying trends and reproducing them at a great price.”
Some fall trends to keep an eye out for are ruffles, sequins and a nude color palate. “Sequins are everywhere, on everything, and I’m seeing a lot of nude, muted colors,” Fraser says. If you’ve got an event to go to or just want a new outfit for a night on the town, the staff at Stella is there to help outfit you. And with the price points so low, you’ll be able to scoop up not just the dress, but also some accessories and a clutch to go with it.
So the next time you find yourself downtown, pop into Stella for some retail therapy that won’t break the bank. Be sure to write your info down in the guest book to get notified about upcoming sales and events. And for those of you who can’t resist a good party, Stella will be hosting an event to celebrate the launch of their new website on November 18. Trust us-you won’t want to leave empty handed.
