The time has finally come that capes are no longer just for super heroes. Fashion-forward ladies in New York and Paris and rocking capes this Fall, finding them drapey, flirty alternatives to the coat. And now outerwear isn't your only option for adopting this trend. Some of the best designers are creating beautiful dresses and tops that go from casual to formal. This is definitely a trend to keep your eyes on with its unique versatility to adapt to your own personal style.

The V Cape Tee by Corson is a long sleeve option that will keep you covered, with two slouchy pockets at the front and a sharp v-neck cut. I love the flowy jersey fabric with its comfortable feel and easy look. Pair this with liquid leggings and layer on your necklaces for a complete ensemble.

Our next pick is an elegant, more demure piece, with that being a dress. The Cape Dress by Halston Heritage uses this cut mixed with a subtle, yet sexy print. I love the crew neck and asymmetrical hem. I would dress this up with some thick, equally stacked bangles and a pair of black booties.

You didn’t think I would leave you without at least one jacket, did you? And I must say, this one is one of the best I’ve seen. It’s your classic black cape, and it’s by Alice + Olivia. The Emory Cape is a timeless option that makes you feel as luxurious as you look. The hooded wool cape features a cluster of embellishments made from beads, chains, rhinestones and more on each shoulder.

Which version of the cape do you covet? Or is this trend a little too Sherlock Holmes for you?
