Find Your Halloween Costume...Before It's too Late
Halloween is nigh and like a lot of procrastinators (or busy hardworking people) out there we’ve yet to figure out our Halloween getup. Instead of letting you raid your grandma’s closet, we’ve put together a list of great costume shops and thrift stores in Miami to help you assemble your look from wig to ruby slippers.
Go the Thrift Route
If you’re seeking unique, vintage clothing and accessories to create your own vision without the help of packaged, theme costumes, head to Sobe Thrifty. This nifty store offers a wide (and at times unusual) range of clothing, spanning decades and cultures (you may find a poodle skirt, a flapper-esque sequins dress, a beret, and a pair of neon spandex pants all within ten feet of each other). The store also offers a hodgepodge of hats, shoes, belts, jewelry and bags to complete the look.

The I-Forgot-it-was-Halloween Store

This pop-up costume shop offers a buffet of theme costumes neatly organized by category: humor, sexy, scary, pet, superheroes, pop culture, and use your imagination. They also carry a slew of accessories including hats, masks, make-up, and wigs.
Be a Vintage Vixen
For retro, designer pieces that you can rock on Halloween and other occasions, head to C.Madeleine’s (but be prepared to splurge because these one-of-a-kind pieces don’t come cheap). Here you’ll find vintage designer garments to die for, like a 1960s sequined knit cocktail dress, a 1940s Ceil Chapman black lace and tafeta dress, and a 1980s Ferragamo geometric cocktail dress (to name a very few). This may be a great choice for you if you’re looking to create a stylish retro costume, say of a Mad Men character or icon such as Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy or Edie Sedgwick. You’ll also find vintage bottoms, furs, jumpsuits, suits, shoes, and accessories.
Or, Go Halloween Haute Couture
More elaborate, authentic costumes can be found at ABC Costume Shop, which creates original garments for film, theater, and individual requests (you can rent or purchase). They also carry a collection of over 20,000 costumes spanning historical figures, movie characters, and period garments (for example: detailed Renaissance gowns, an Ancient Egyptian costume, a Medieval soldier costume, and a Barbarella costume). All costumes can be paired with wigs, hat, and accessories to complete the ensemble.
Now the real question...What are you going to be?
