Ready for the Weekend

Get Ready to Run

As the rest of the nation begins to feel the chill of autumn weather, they look upon Miami enviously, wishing they too could wear sandals in mid-October. At the same time, we begin to remember why we live here – 80-degree weather, clear blue skies, and lots of cool things to do. We'll be at Race for the Cure on Saturday, will you?

Friday: Get on the Bandwagon...

What: Propaganda Fridays
Where: Grand Central, 697 North Miami Avenue, Miami
When: Email Rsvp@magmiami.com to get on the list. Guest list valid until 12:30 a.m.

© Nicole Miller, Luv AJ, CC Skye, Valentino, BCBGGrand Central teams up with MAG MIAMI to put on Propaganda Fridays, and the invite stresses that the dress code is strictly enforced. But just because there’s a code doesn’t mean you need to wear a uniform; so forget about that generic too-short, too-tight, shiny-strapless-staple-dress and slip into something a little more sophisticated (and equally as foxy).

The Nicole Miller Blue Jersey Draped Overlay Mini-Dress is perfect for the occasion. The boat neck is sexy but still modest, making sure your legs get all the attention. The dress is formfitting, but thanks to expert draping and attention to detail, you’ll look sleek – not stuffed. Because it’s so simple, pile on long gold necklaces like the CC Skye Claw Pendant, and the Knotted Link Necklace by Luv AJ, to add some edge. Nude pumps like these Studded T-Strap Pumps from Valentino make your legs look miles long, and the gold studs tie them into the rest of your outfit. A metallic mesh clutch incorporates a new texture, adding visual interest- the Two Tone Mesh Baguette Clutch by BCBG fits the bill, and won’t break the bank either.

Saturday: Run, Walk, Skip

What: Miami 2010 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
Where: Bayfront Park, Miami
When: 8:00 a.m.

© Ralph Lauren, MFb, Puma, Ray-Ban, Forever 21The forecast says Saturday is going to be a beautiful day - not too hot, not too bright – so come out and join us as we Race for the Cure! You’ll be raising money for a good cause, getting in some exercise, and you’ll have the chance to win one of the stylish prizes we’ll be raffling off after the race.

Did we mention you’ll also get our limited edition MFb Race for the Cure t-shirt? Pair it with some white dolphin shorts, like the Pink Pony Pink Pony Running Shorts from Ralph Lauren, the sale of which benefits breast cancer research. The walk will take us from Bayfront Park, down to Brickell and back again, so a serious pair of walking shoes is in order. The Puma Repli Cats come in pink and are extremely comfortable. So don some Ray-Ban Classic Wayfarers, put your hair up with a Forever 21 Rhinestone Hair Tie and join the race! You can sign up to be on our team by clicking here.

Sunday: Brunch Like a Queen
What: Brunchic
Where: The Palace, 1200 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach
When: 11:30 am and 2:30 pm seatings

© Firetrap, Free People, Delman, ChamkaWhen it comes to brunch, Miami has a seemingly endless array of options. And while it’s hard to go wrong with eggs Benedict and a mimosa, one Miami Beach brunch sets itself apart by offering live entertainment with your toast – the Sunday Brunchic drag show at The Palace.

So roll out of bed and head over to the beach, but keep it casual and don’t even try to upstage the main act. A t-shirt dress is the perfect marriage of comfort and style, especially when it boasts a great print in a bright color, like the Printed Oversize T-Shirt Dress from Firetrap. Slip on some teal snakeskin Delman Uca sandals and a stack of shimmery Chamak by Priya Kakkar bangles to take the dress from bedroom-to-dining room. A Vintage Straw Market Bag by Free People totes all your Sunday-morning essentials, and it will be no big deal if you spill one of your unlimited mimosas on it.
