Camila Saldarriaga is the Miami ambassador of LITTLE RAMONAS – a creative agency offering styling and fashion production services in Bogota, Miami and New York. The metropolitan paradises are lucky to have these fashion rebels Camila Saldariaga (in MIA), Paula Beltran (in NY), and Mariana Puerta (in BTA) who are spreading their fashion seeds throughout fashion magazines, production studios and the streets. They have a unique way of combining 70s and 80s flare with contemporary styling and vintage clothing for unique looks that are oh, so now.

I recently caught up with Camila to chat fashion, Miami and LITTLE RAMONAS.

How long have you been in Miami and what brought you here?

I’ve been living between Miami and Bogota since 2000. I originally came with my family but they have since returned to Colombia.

How did you land in the fashion world?

It was never planned. The focus of my outfits has always been a great vintage piece. Friends took notice of my style and I realized what a demand there is for vintage fashion. In 2007 I joined “LiTTLE RAMONAS” with my business partner Paula Beltran.

What are some of the biggest accomplishments you have experienced with Little Ramonas?

Creating a state of mind that compliments a lifestyle. Building LiTTLE RAMONAS from a dream to a successful company that serves clients worldwide.

As a stylist, what is the process that you go through when a photo shoot takes place?

Each piece has its own story to tell and I bring that story back to life by creating a unique outfit centered around the piece. I like things to be spontaneous…I always have outfits planned but when I’m in the moment at a fashion shoot I am often spontaneously inspired. Fashion is always changing and unpredictable.

The most important thing is to be focused and consistent with the theme of the shoot. And I’m always prepared with my safety kit: safety pins and double-sided tape.

What’s your favorite part of what you do?

Working in the fashion industry I am surrounded by creative and interesting people. Being a Ramona is a lifestyle. I like to be innovative and constantly absorbing ideas from my surroundings.

Miami, Bogota or New York? What’s the best thing from those cities?

Miami: The Beach and diversity of cultures.

New York: You breath creativity.

Bogota: The food and loving people.

Describe Miami’s fashion.

The diversity of cultures combined with the heat inspires a unique mixture of colorful patterns, scant clothing and 24 hour sex appeal. What other city can you find open toed shoes and cleavage at the office at 8 a.m.?

Describe your personal style.

Simple, with an 80s influence, very eclectic and folkloric vintage. My style is always changing depending on the color of my mood ring.

Where do you like going shopping in Miami?

There are a couple of specific brands and boutiques that I like; however, nothing excites me more than finding an exclusive vintage piece to rock on Friday night. Miami is a gold mine when it comes to thrift stores.

Something necessary in every girl’s closet?

Black leather jacket.
