Shop 'Til You Drop
This weekend, you don’t need to be in New York to get your fashion fix. Between the Vogue parties and shopping events in honor of Fashion’s Night Out on Friday, a trunk show on Saturday and a red carpet on Sunday, Miami's got it goin' on all around town. So step out and put your best wedge forward – September is here, and the fashion is ripe for the taking.
Friday: Fashion’s Night Out
When: Most Events are from 6-9 p.m.
Where: All over Miami
Another Fashion Week is upon us, and if your invite was also lost in the mail, then fear not, fashion minions: The visionaries at Vogue have something up their sleeve, and it’s not measured in carats. The ever-popular economic stimulus to the fashion industry, has gone global. And plenty of Miami retailers are getting in on the action, offering parties, giveaways, and even manicures. For a list of all participating Miami retailers, head to the FNO Elsewhere page, or check out our list of best bets.
© Jeffrey Campbell, Ever, Rachel Roy, Kate SpadeYou never know who you’ll bump into, so wear something chic. If you don’t want to go crazy on the trend-o-meter, then keep things posh and classic, like the Whitmore Wrap Dress by Ever. Kick it up a notch with some peep-toe platform booties like the MaryRocks Black Suede booties by Jeffrey Campbell. Add some megawatt bling to your look with an over-the-top bracelet like the Constellation Cuff by Kate Spade. Finish it off with a splash of color. We love this bold Rachel Roy ring, which looks "money," even though it isn't. Sipping a flute of Cristal in one hand while rocking a whole lot of crystal on the other? We can dig it.
Saturday: Mykita Trunk Show
Where: Edward Beiner South Miami, 5817 Sunset Drive, South Miami
When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
© T-Bags, Wet Seal, Marc Jacobs, Forever 21September holds a dear place in a fashionista's heart. It’s a time to shed the good ole summer wardrobe and transition into new colors, shapes and styles. To make this transition a little easier, Edward Beiner Eyewear and Mykita Eyewear are pairing up for a trunk show event, where you’ll be able to view Mykita’s current collection and see the limited edition frames that were worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City 2. After all, with a new wardrobe should come with new accessories.
This is a daytime event, so keep your look fun and flirty. This floral v-neck maxi dress by T-Bags has it all. Accentuate with some gold bangles. This Mixed Bangle Set from Forever 21 are great – stack ’em high, sister! Try some gold flats, like these cheap but chic $8 Metallic Twisted Flat Sandals from Wet Seal. Finally, go hobo with the Classic Q Francesca Hobo bag from MARC by Marc Jacobs, and you'll be right on point with the season – floral and gold – while still looking cool and comfortable in the endless summer that is Miami in September.
Sunday: Throw a VMA Party
Where: Your Place
© ASOS, MTV, falcon1061, SplendidWhen: The Red Carpet Pre-Show starts at 8 p.m.
We’re still not quite sure how MTV convinced Chelsea Handler to host the Video Music Awards this year(unless Grey Goose or Belvedere agreed to sponsor the event). Regardless, the Sunday night award show is sure to be filled with vulgarity, glamour and probably some live tweeting. (Yo Kanye, we’re really happy you finally got a Twitter and, uh, we’ll let you finish tweeting, but...)
This Sunday, grab your girlfriends and a bottle of wine, and host a VMA party at your place. Get into the award season spirit by dressing up, or head straight for the loungewear. Yoga pants like the the Always Active pants from Spledid will go perfectly with a sexy loose top like the Dip Dye Graphic Print from ASOS. Slip into these and you'll be comfortable enough to say what's on your mind.
