Battle of the Exotics: Leopard vs. Python

If there’s one thing that makes me weak in the knees, it’s an exotic print. From leopard to python and everything in between, I love a good exotic piece to freshen up a basic ensemble. This Fall, neutrals take center stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take our favorite leopard or python pieces to make a real statement. The real question is, are you a leopard or a python? Take a look at our favorite picks to see which side you’re on.

First, lets focus on some leopard. This wild print continues to raid our wardrobes, so let’s mix it up a bit. We all love our traditional leopard, but We Are Owls takes it a step further with their Snow Leopard Scarf. This ombre wash, cashmere scarf features a black and white take on your classic leopard print. It’s the perfect piece to liven up your neutrals while adding that extra layer of warmth.

Cinch any of your dresses or loose burnout tees with this studded, yet simplistic belt. If you prefer leopard at your toes, look no further than the Jahara Sandal by Pelle Moda. This leopard hair calf platform has sky-high heels and will compliment any nighttime look.

In the ultimate Leopard V. Python match-up, two pieces from La Mer Collection prove that both materials are true style contenders. The Leopard Layer Wrap combines fashion with function for an everyday staple that makes you look great, while helping in keeping you on time. Meanwhile, the Snake Wrap Watch wows with its neutral/cement pigments that will have you wondering what time it is all day long.

Next, for a more dramatic take on python, turn to Mason Martin Margiela for the Faux Python Slouch Booties. These open toe booties feature a hidden platform for extra height and a draped front that could be effortlessly pulled off with a neutral, bodycon dress.

Our last two python picks come from Alexander Wang. Wang has perfected the art of creating an ‘it’ bag, and this season, two such bags feature this exotic skin. The Tai Dopp Kit Bag is a structured, ladylike option with a doctor style hinged frame. With its beautiful leather and hardware accents, this bag is a must-have for everyday use. For some nighttime action, we turn to the Amber Notebook Clutch, because what’s wrong with looking studious while out on the town?
