How to Wear It

The Green Shift Dress from Just Cavalli

Marina owns two of the same shift dresses from Just Cavalli, the second-tier line by Roberto Cavalli. The dresses are satin with very deep v-line decolletes and symmetrical from front to back. She confesses she bought  two,  one in green moss and one in maron glace’, because they were on sale at the Just Cavalli  boutique in Milan during last year’s Fall Fashion week and it was a steal.

She wore the brown one right away at a cocktail party in Milan that same night. Because it was a chilly night and she worn it with a fur collar and ankle strap brown satin sandals from Blumarine. Marina, who lives between Italy and Miami, thought the green moss version would be an easy fit for Florida’s sunny skies, but she's yet to wear it once. It still looks appealing to the eye and adorable with that snakeskin print satin used as a lining inside the bust construction. We found help styling her dress at Mina, the beach's new "it" boutique.

The vivid green dress may shout "I'm on vacation" in other cities, but in Miami, it might as well be a power color. Pair it with a peach raincoat (for that daily intermittent rain shower), a multicolored Pucci scarf and a triple layered “turquoise cascade” and a lariat of multicolored glass beads by Karlee Feed your Head. The light grey accents will smooth out the brightness of the pastels. The booties (aren't they great?) and the bag came from Marina's closet.

A sparkling headband with an oversized pearl white feather (also by Karlee Feed Your Head), a green peridot double layered necklace with rhinestones (from Sense of Fashion) and a Veve’ clutch that was hand stitched in Haiti. Marina owns a gorgeous pair of distressed brass suede heels by Oscar de la Renta that gives the outfit a touch of class.

Since she has never worn it, another option is to get a seamstress involved to tun the dress into a tunic. She could wear her sassy green tunic with with black leggings, a short leather studded bolero vest and a layer of rosaries (the one pictured is white marble and grey pearls). Black peep toe Prada pumps and a leather black and white Etro bag with sequins embroidery pulls it all together.
