Start with Happy Hour, and Shake
One of the many great things about Miami is the endless amount of things to do. Dressing to impress for these fun events, however, can be a completely different story. With that, we introduce Ready for the Weekend, a quick guide to some of the coolest things going on around town each weekend, and what to wear.
Friday: Rooftop Lounge Happy Hour
Where: Townhouse Hotel, 150 20th Street, Miami Beach
From: 6 to 8 p.m.
Features: Complimentary vodka drinks, select Bond St. menu items available for order.
If happy hour is your favorite hour, or you’re just low on cash but don’t necessarily want to spend your Friday night knitting at home while spooning with Ben & Jerry, then today is your lucky day. To kick off the weekend, Miami.com and Wodka Vodka are pairing up to host a happy hour with complimentary vodka cocktails at the Rooftop Lounge at the Townhouse Hotel, which has great views of Miami Beach.
A belted romper like this one from FANG, is the perfect garment for the occasion. It's still summer and rompers are still hot; plus, you won’t have to worry about the wind factor. Pair the outfit with a pair of platform wedges like these from Joe’s Jeans that (we're sure) Rachel Zoe would go bananas over. Accessorize with a gold watch (to remind yourself that it's happy hour) like this one from Michael Kors, for a look that's classic, cohesive and effortlessly chic.
Saturday: Interpol at The Fillmore
© Patterson J. Kincaid, Urban Outfitters, Aurelie Bidermann, Miu Miu, XOXO.jpgWhere: The Filmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater, 1700 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach
When: 8:30 p.m.
Cost: General admission seats will run you $61
The old Jackie Gleason Theater provides a perfect scene for you to rock your inner glam queen. Black skinnies are a staple of this look. These black skinny jeans by XOXO are functional, and at under $50, affordable. Keep the top flowy, like this sheer tank from Patterson J. Kincaid. If you aren't shy, a black lacy bra underneath will look super cute. To keep things proportionate, throw on this ruched blazer from Urban Outfitters, and add some femininity with these gorgeous Miu Miu black booties. For the occasion, this 18-karat gold-plated mamba snake ring by Aurélie Bidermann is out-of-control chic.
Sunday: Brunch at D. Rodriguez Cuba
Where: D. Rodriguez Cuba, 956 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach
When: 12 to 4 p.m.
Cost: $29 for a prix fixe brunch and unlimited sangria.
Dressing for anything on a Sunday should be about simplicity and comfort, and something that can easily translate from brunch to the beach. The lightweight Summer Lovin' Maxi Dress by Blu Moon balances a feminine silhouette with a color scheme perfectly suited for an afternoon in South Beach. The dress is also loose-fitting – perfect for devouring chicken empanadas, huevos rancheros and vaca frita sans guilt. To complement the look, neutral tones are vital in order to avoid blending in with the Art Deco buildings, or, worse yet – being mistaken for a tourist (gasp!). Prada’s beige leather sandals are a perfect fit, as is this shoulder bag by Marc Jacobs. Just don’t kill us for sending you to D. Rodriguez Cuba’s unlimited sangria bar if you are, in fact, already hungover.
