There's a Case for That
Leave it to designers to dress up everything, even technology. With a slew of Apple products ranging from iPods to the newest must-have, iPads, high fashion has decided to lend their creativity to protect your devices in style. Every case has its price, but how much is too much? Front-runner designers offer their newest iPad cases anywhere from $230-$366, while iPads themselves can be bought starting at $499 - leaving the price tag at just under $1000 for the newest technology wrapped in the highest fashion.
Louis Vuitton was the first designer to announce designs for the iPad, which seems like a natural leap from their iPhone cases. They decided to keep it simple with two versions of the slip available in classic Monogram and Damier canvas for the high fashion price of $366. Just as the iPad is coined ‘the big iPhone,’ the same can be said of the comparison between Louis Vuttions iPhone slips to the new iPad version. With the hefty price, is it paying too much for too little?
© Salvatore FerragamoNext, Gucci jumped on the wagon to offer their version of the iPad accessory. Similar to the Louis Vuitton slip, this Gucci version also offers their timeless black rubberized Guccissima leather and GG neoprene cases. We love the suede liner and security that the strap closure offers. I’ll give it to Gucci for being a ‘more affordable’ designer option, with cases starting at $230 available directly from their website.
Salvatore Ferragamo seems to be the latest in iPad case design. They have definitely designed the most unique of the lot, with quality to match. Structured bags are in style as it is, so it’s great to see this design implemented to an idea and dress up our iPads. These hard-shell, leather cases close like an envelope and have leather wristlet options.
Of course, if you're looking for a cute case for your favorite electronic toy, the (still as yet) no-name designers at Etsy turn their eyes to the iPad craze as well.
