The world is filled with many talented and creative people that you'll never hear of (because they don't have a microphone, or walk the red carpet.) What they do is make the microphone-wielding, red-carpet-walkers among us look really, really good. Make-up artists and hair stylists might not ever get a spread in Vogue, but they do rock set and stage alike – making sure those in the spot light are ready for their closeups.

Professional make-up artist and hair stylist is Lymari Veloz is one of my favorite behind-the-scenes "rock stars." I caught up with her last Wednesday during Contesta Rock Hair's happy hour for a dread touch up and a chat.

Describe your outfit head to toe.

I’m wearing black leather comfy boots, a black leather skirt, an off-white sleeveless blouse with little sequined bowties as decoration and a military style black vest on top. I like wearing headbands, this one has some metal detail on it I also accessorized my outfit with thick leather black wristbands or chains. And my make-up, off course.

Where did you purchase your items?

Not sure, but I buy my stuff mostly in LA or New York. I specially like purchasing clothing from young and fresh designers. I find it inspiring to wear someone’s passion and hard work. I consider their businesses treasures.

Define your fashion style in few words?

I wear anything that grabs my eye, that happens to be shiny and artsy. I also have somewhat of a rock-and-roll flair.

What’s something that you can be recognized for that you wear everyday?

I’m all about make-up. So that’s my staple; my black cat eyes, my red lipstick and the diamonds on my eyebrow.  My colorful hair will never be missing either, it complements my make-up.

Is there a certain way that Contesta Rock Hair requires their hair stylists to dress? If yes, do you feel limited, obligated or you know how to get away with it?

We don’t have a dress code. It feels like home working at Contesta Rock Hair.

I actually have every color of Converse shoes. That’s something that I always wear to be comfortable while working.

What’s your favorite type of client and how do you deal with their needs?

I can deal with a traditional, reserved client or with an extroverted, energetic fashionista. The challenge is to bring the best in everyone’s personality regardless of their style. I do love getting my hands on trendsetters, but they are rare to come across, it feels like a privilege and an honor to satisfy their creative needs.

What do you think reflects a person's personality the most – make-up, hair style or fashion?

It’s all tied in together. But I believe that hair specially can help bring your personality out. If you can feel sexy naked wearing your hair down, you are set!

What would be your pick? Where do you express yourself the most through?

I’m definitely a make-up and hair person. I love color, these creative outlets let me play, mix and create looks with no boundaries.

Describe what you would wear if you want to get a couple of drinks, some dances and few phone numbers. And where would you head lookin’ that fab in Miami?

I have a secret fetish for boots, my dancing boots. Comfortable, stylish shoes are a must! Regarding fashion, usually my clothes will complement my exuberant make-up and hair and not the other way around. And for the party, since I live in Sobe it’s really easy for me to get around different bars hitting all kinds of crowds and parties in one night. I can be found [anywhere] from Kill Your Idol and Purdy Lounge to Mansion or Cameo. I like it all.

Complete the sentence:
Miami can be distinguished for having a _________________ fashion nightlife.
Are you part of it?

“Unpredictable” fashion nightlife. I’m a local and a native, I definitely represent this mixture of cultures even when am not home.
